Red stripe?

I was returning some stuff at Anthro last night and there is a lady came in asking for suggestion because she is attending a 4th of July parade.

This is what I immediately thought of.

And guess what did the SA pull out?  The same shirt, haha, except they only have the navy blue left, but then you can just reverse it by wearing a red cardigan over it.

In fact I like the simple stripe red stripe the other stores carried more.  This anthro shirt is a bit over the top for me. Somehow when I think of 4th of July, I felt more casual.

 Here are some choice:

JCREW version:  Whisper linen stripe tank.  Honestly, although it is made of linen, I don't see how it justify the $41 price tag

From nordstrom: Splendid Rugby Stripe Slub Knit Tank on sale for $34.90

Old navy: Women's Diagonal-Stripe Jersey Tanks

Even gap kids have one and it is $4.99 right now.  who knows, the XXL plus might work out fine.  The red is the most crisp.

Now here is the disadvantage of on line shopping. You can not feel the fabric, try out the fit.  It is pretty much a wild guess.

What would you pick?

I ordered the gap one.  I know, it is shameless, but the price is too good to pass.  Here is another shameless outfit featuring the anthro cat dress, and a Crewcut cardigan.  I love this cardigan, it is very light weight and the color calls for a sunny day. I love it so much that bought both my daughter and myself one.

Winter Bloom -OOTD

I haven't wear my bloom lattice cardigan lately.  It was a piece that I thought it would be versatile enough to pay full price for.  But I have always thought of this piece as a spring(left) / summer (right) cardigan because it is cotton.  In the summer, I wear it all the time.  It was the right warmth to throw on for the cool office temperature.

In the winter, I am more likely to grab for skinny jeans and boots and thick wool sweater in the morning, but readers from Anthroholic had chosen the week to be the blooming lattice as the outfit week. It got me re-thinking how this cardigan could also be styled for the winter. So here is what I came up with.

Top: J CREW gather neck tee
Cami: Gap Lace Cami
Skirt: Banana Republic (very very old)
Tight: JCREW wool tight (very very very old)
Shoes: Rensselaer T-Straps
Cardigan: Blooming Lattice Cardigan
Headband: JCREW zipper headband (It gets too loose after a day's wear, wouldn't recommend it)

Why I don't do fitting room reviews -- Kirklees Seater coat

Saw cat's review on kirklees sweater coat at anthrodottir today.  Here is the version I tried on and I can see why I don't do reviews.  When some piece doesn't work for her, she still looks good.  When some piece doesn't work for me?  I look pregnant.... The store does not have a extra small so I tried a small. I should size down.  The color somehow has a old dirty muddy feeling to it.  I really love the peter pan collar. But it kind of blends in with the print.

Worth mentioning is that the picture is taken by my daughter.  That explains the head cut off, right?  I said to her "make sure you had the entire sweater in the picture" and she follow the instruction perfectly.

We had a pretty good time shopping Anthropologie together at Downtown Seattle.  The only problem is Anthropologie opens till only 8:00pm, even on weekdays.  So everyday after dinner when we casually browse through stores, they are Closed by the time we get there!  Somehow my daughter really likes this double outdoor chair on the second floor. This is her and her gap stuff bunny, which got lost at the seattle airport.  She was very sad and cried on the airplane.

Personally I think she is a much better model than I am. Picture below is when we were at the gap trying out stuff for her.  Love the hat on her and thought I would buy it on line when I get back so I can use a coupon code for the full price item.  It turns out online doesn't have it.

OOTD: Comfort Seeking

Encouraged by the two comments from previous OOTD post, I decided to overcome my self-consciousness and post another one.

Weather has been crazy these days.  Yesterday has high of 70F and this weekend supposed to get up to 88F? That is why I love any wrap style cardigans.  You can just throw them on and go. When the City Garden Cardigan came out in the spring, I didn't pay too much attention.  Later on I spot it on sale and decide to give it a try.  I never realize there were so much details.  The nude color fooled me. There is the stripe, floral, embroidery, and yet, it is a comfortable piece that you can toss on without worried about getting all wrinkle up.

My 4 year old daughter has a end of school year pot luck lunch today at their school playground.  In any event requires frequently getting down on a 4year's eye level, I avoid dress/skirt.  For the rest of the day, school would be off.  That means I will work from home, namely in front of the lab top at the comfort of my bed, while my daughter nap the rest of the afternoon beside me.  At this age, she still could't get through the day without being cranky at the end of the day if she misses her nap. Somehow whenever she gets to crash on my bed, her napped time gets extended.  Maybe it is the extra sense of security she gets from curling up around Mommy. Whenever she wakes up, if she sees me next to her, she usually falls back asleep as if she had never open her eyes.

The marinated braised beef we brought is a success. My criteria of success is if it gets consumed completely. I cut the beef paper thin and every single slice got finished.  I just love the sense of bringing the empty container home.

anthrodottir give away ends tomorrow

One of my favorite anthrodottir is celebrating 100 follower mark by doing a give away.  While I never really won anything in my entire life,  I still enter it and send it my "work" outfit for an additional entry.  Since I don't have any followers, I don't think it is fair to enter another entry by telling her I am mentioning her give away in my blog right now.  This is the outfit I send

top: anthro snowscape tank.
cardigan:  Free People 'Neon Lights Cutie'
Cardigan gap capri
shoes: Linea Paolo 'Frisco' Flat
Bag: computer bag by oakley

Anyhow, I had never realize how hard it is to take a picture for yourself. When I take the picture against the mirror, the flash creates a white spot.  The only full length mirror is at the entry of our bedroom which has very narrow space  and lighting is not that great.  I am also very awkward in putting up any post.  Finially I ask my sweet hubby to take a picture for me. So this is officially the very first OOTD from me.
